Locking Files

The easiest and most straightforward method to lock a file is to double click on the file in the Actual File System View.  Any file that you double click on will be “locked” and put into the Virtual File System.  Notice the before and after pictures below, the file ”movie-file.avi” is put into the virtual directory “SampleUser\movie files\favorites” because this directory was selected on the left side when the double click was performed on the file.

Notice that after the file was locked it is no longer visible in the Actual File System View.  This file was actually encrypted and removed from your file system and saved off in a place only visible to Filelocker.  After you have locked a file no other person can look at this file on your computer.

There are other ways to lock files and they include drag and drop, selecting “Lock” in the File menu, clicking on the  icon in the toolbar or selecting “Find Files” in the File menu.  All of these are explained in detail in the Filelocker Help System.
