The Filelocker layout is made up of the Actual File System View and the Virtual File System View. The Actual File System View is located on the right hand side while the Virtual File System View is located on the left hand side of the application and both are labeled at the bottom of the screen.
The
Actual File System represents your actual file system as it appears on
your computer. All of your files
will be visible in this view and they will appear just as they do on your
computer. Any file that you have on
your computer that you wish to hide will initially show up in this view.
The main point to remember about files that show up in this view is that
they ARE visible files on your computer.
(Other
users on your computer CAN see files in this view.)
The Virtual File System represents the virtual file structure that you will create and will contain files that are ONLY visible within Filelocker. You can treat this file structure just as you would any other file system, by creating folders and adding files into these newly created folders by locking files from the Actual File System. This view is exactly as its name suggests, it is only a “Virtual” file system and cannot be viewed outside of Filelocker. The main point to remember about files that show up in this view is that they ARE NOT visible files on your computer.

(Other users on your computer CANNOT see files in this
view.)
Initially this view will contain only one directory, which will be named after your user account login Id. By right clicking on this folder you may add folders underneath the main user folder.
The main Filelocker actions are: locking files, unlocking files, viewing files and exporting files. This guide briefly covers these actions and present the simplest measures to perform these actions.
Click on the links below to learn the basics of each action.
Once you have become familiar with these common actions and
understand what is going on when you carry out these actions using Filelocker
will be very easy.
The File View component lists all of the files and folders that are
in the selected folder. All of the files in the view are files that have
been locked into this folder. Likewise, in the Actual
File System, all of the files in the File View are in the C:\Temp folder.

The drop down selection directly above this view is the File Type list. This list will initially be empty, and can be modified by the user my adding different File Type definitions.

The view buttons allow the user to change the current file view. All operations work the same no matter what the current view type is. There are three different views for the File View:
List View
Lists the files an folders in a list, showing only the file names.
Detail View
Lists the files and folders in a table, showing the file properties.
Thumbnail View
Lists the files and folders as a thumbnail showing only the icon and file name.
The
icon allows the user
to traverse up to the parent folder.
